Celebrate Canada Flag Day!

Youth in Iqaluit had an opportunity to celebrate the National Flag of Canada Day , when each school was visited by the Honourable Ann Meekitjuk Hanson, Commissioner of Nunavut accompanied by City Councilor Jimmy Kilabiuk, and escorted by members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Canadian Forces , the Canadian Rangers and committee members. The ceremony started with the O Canada followed by a brief history of the Canadian flag by Commissioner Hanson. Councillor Jimmy Kilabuk and the students then offered their pledge to the Flag.

Commissioner's Book Project

The Commissioner's Book Project, where thousands of books were repackaged and sent to needy communities in Nunavut, was finished in August 2006. Dozens of volunteers worked long hours in a drafty warehouse to help package the books to be sent to communities.
