Commissioner of Nunavut, the Honourable Edna Elias arrived in Whitehorse on 05 March, to represent Nunavut at the Arctic Winter Games. She was introduced to and greeted Officials from the International, Yukon and Alaska committees and many organizers from other countries and regions.

She met with her colleagues, the Commissioner of the Yukon, the Honourable Doug Phillips and from the Northwest Territory, The Honourable George Tuccaro. They took this opportunity to sign a Co-operation Accord to work together towards common goals, issues and projects.

During the week, Commissioner Elias witnessed and cheered at different competitions and had the honour of presenting medals at a few events, such as dog racing and skating.

Along with her two colleagues from the other territories, she attended the closing ceremonies where she was delighted to find out that Nunavut won the distinctive Hodgson trophy which was donated by Northwest Territory by former Commissioner Stuart Hodgson in 1978.
