Commissioner’s Arts Award presentation: March 20, 2026 – Mathew Nuqingaq
I was very pleased to present Mathew Nuqingaq with the Commissioner’s Arts Award this afternoon at the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut. This year the award is being shared by Mathew Nuqingaq and James Ungalaq. James could not attend the ceremony today. It is an honor to recognize these two accomplished artists. Their work highlights Inuit worldview in unique ways and superbly shows the diversity of the arts in Nunavut. Congratulations Mathew and James.
