August 2005 – Coral Harbour: Community Visit

The Commissioner of Nunavut chose the Kivalliq community of Coral Harbour for her second community visit during her first year following her installation in April.

Commissioner Hanson was invited to attend the Airport Terminal Building opening in the community by Transportation Minister Peter Kilabuk and to take part in Hamlet Day activities.

She presented two bravery awards to individuals in the community and a special recognition award to an elder.

In return, the community presented her with an ulu, now on display at the Commissioner’s office.

One of the highlights of her visit was traveling on the community’s longest road by ATV.
