Commissioner Ann Meekitjuk Hanson was on hand to help commemorate the opening of new airport terminal in Pond Inlet in November with Transportation Minister Peter Kilabuk.

Tunnuniq MLA Jobie Nutarak was also on hand for the ceremonies.RCMP in red serge escorted the Commissioner from the airport.

Three awards were presented at the high school. Commissioner Hanson presented one award for bravery and two awards to elders for acquisition of special skills while preserving Inuit tradition and culture.

The Commissioner discovered how much community spirit there is in Pond Inlet as she talked to many friendly members of the Pond Inlet community who came out to wish her well at the airport and at the high school.
